Background

Following a series of Community Forums in February the Ready Communities team invites people who would like to get involved in building readiness in the Stanthorpe community leading into the national Social Impact in the Regions conference (2-4 September 2026). In the Community Forums we asked what people love about Stanthorpe and what opportunities they would like to bring to life. The opportunities were then collated across five themes:

  • Sustainability: How we are here tomorrow – connection to place and the land, environment
  • Cultural practices: How we do things around here – creative industries/local culture, First Nations
  • Liveability: How we live – housing, essential services, infrastructure
  • Community contribution: How we come together – youth, volunteering, community contribution, connection, leadership, decision-making
  • Local economy: How we work – Industry Synergy and Workforce, Sustainability, Food, Nature-Based Tourism, the Visitor Economy

The next steps are: (1) to engage a Local Impact Facilitator for each focus area and (2) to host Readiness Events for each focus area.
