About
Your place, our place
Regional communities don’t lack ideas or desire to change. What they lack is access: to information, networks, and people who can back them. Progress stalls while everyone waits for a grant or for someone else to go first. Ready Communities was set up to close that gap.
Over four years we have built the Ready Communities Platform, a place regional changemakers can come to connect, learn, seek opportunities and be backed.
It has already generated more than $1.3 million in regional economic output, reached more than 800 Social Impact in the Regions (SIITR) alumni and hundreds more through workshops and regional tours, and supported local people in each host community to start new initiatives.
Our vision is that every regional, rural and remote community starts with readiness
How do we define readiness?
Readiness is the set of enabling conditions a community needs to respond to the challenges and opportunities that affect its prosperity. These include pressures such as a climate event or industry change, and opportunities such as a new investment. We work with communities to build and strengthen the enabling conditions of readiness which are:
- Clarity & Understanding
- Connection & Connectivity
- Capability & Capacity
- Collaboration for Purpose
- Advocacy & Promotion
How can you plug in?
Everything we do builds readiness, the conditions that help good ideas take hold and last. We support communities to build readiness while the work is happening, rather than as a step they have to finish first. Ready Communities provides a place for regional, rural and remote changemakers to plug into to support them at any stage:
- Local Impact Facilitator training (annually)
- Flagship Program (starts December each year)
- National conference Social Impact in the Regions (September)
- National Regional Challenges (May)
- Research & Impact Reporting (annually)
national regional challenges
Informed by our annual national host community (Flagship community) we design a series of focus areas, and then associated challenges which support not only the local ecosystem, but also address national concerns.
Our first series of National Regional Challenges will launch on 20 May 2026. Join our newsletter to stay up to date.
