People who live in Regional communities aren’t usually challenged to identify the problems that exist in their community. However, identifying solutions, particularly solutions that the majority can agree to comes with more challenges.
This is just one of the reasons we speak with regional communities about investment readiness. To get the story straight, and investible before the opportunities land.
When we speak with regional changemakers, particularly those representing small not for profits and community groups based in regional, rural and remote communities we often hear that it’s not the pressing problems that create the biggest challenges, it’s the communication, and tools to support effective communication that are missing.
In June and July the Ready Communities team will visit communities across QLD and NSW kicking off important conversations about bringing investment readiness to life.
What is investment readiness? We believe it’s like ’tilling the soil’ nurturing a set of enabling conditions that support confidence in investors, and the community that will deliver the project. What are the conditions?
- Clarity and understanding (who, resources, organisations)
- Connection and connectivity (how do we come together, when and under what circumstances)
- Capability and capacity (who can do what, what’s missing)
- Collaboration for purpose (who can contribute what, how can alliances be formed)
- Advocacy and promotion (how does the word get out locally, beyond local)
The workshops aren’t talkfests, we KNOW regional people don’t like that. Each delegate will leave with an actionable plan to create readiness around the community initiative they care about. And who knows, it’s just as likely the collaboration will happen in the room.
