Unit 5 introduction – Advocacy and promotion
Focus: Voice, influence, safety and accountability in public-facing leadership
Local Impact Facilitators are often called on to speak up for people, places and ideas. This unit focuses on advocacy that is responsible, grounded and safe for everyone involved.
You will develop skills to lead difficult conversations, navigate disagreement and advocate for community priorities while maintaining trust and duty of care. The unit also builds awareness of safety, risk and responsibility when leading activities, events or public-facing work.
This is about using your voice well: with courage, care and credibility.
By the end of this unit, you will be better equipped to:
- plan and lead difficult or high-stakes conversations
- advocate for community priorities with integrity and clarity
- apply safety and WHS considerations in community and team settings
In this unit you will work on:
- planning and reflecting on a difficult conversation
- developing an advocacy narrative or campaign outline
- identifying WHS and risk considerations for a community activity or event.
- These activities form part of your formal assessment and reflect real advocacy and leadership responsibilities.
