SUMMARY:Investment Ready Communities: Make sustainable change possible in regional areas
DESCRIPTION:This event is part of Philanthropy Week in QLD \nJB Were: L17\, 259 Queen Street Brisbane \nMany community initiatives begin with strong ideas and generous funding\, yet some gain momentum while others struggle to take hold. In regional communities this challenge can be amplified by distance\, smaller local ecosystems and limited access to support. While philanthropy is increasingly interested in supporting regional Australia\, the options often sit at two extremes: flying in experts for short interventions or committing to long and cost intensive place-based programs. \nThrough our work at Ready Communities we have been exploring a practical middle ground by focusing on community readiness. We develop five foundations that support locally led change: Clarity and Understanding\, Connection and Connectivity\, Capability and Capacity\, Collaboration for Purpose\, and Advocacy and Promotion. This session introduces the readiness approach\, shares case studies and insights from our work with regional communities\, and highlights new initiatives beginning in Queensland this year. Participants will explore how strengthening these foundations can help communities become investment ready and translate ideas and funding into lasting impact. \nwww.readycommunities.com.au \nwww.socialimpactintheregions.com.au

SUMMARY:LAUNCH: Annual Impact Report and National Regional Challenges
DESCRIPTION:Join Kerry Grace and Dr. Chad Renando for the launch of the 2026 Ready Communities Impact Report and Action Plan. \nThis year’s report is presented in three sections: \n1.Regional research: Regions in Transition \nLearn more about the Ready Communities taxonomy of regional transition and why change can be so slow particularly when readiness does not pre-exist. This section also sets a framework for future research on a term the Ready Communities team know well – the ‘gap in the map’\, referring to communities that are somewhat invisible to the service system. \n2. Ready Communities\, a year in reflection \nHear about work the Ready Communities team did in building a readiness model in Grafton\, NSW – what worked\, what didn’t and how the model has since evolved. \n3. Looking ahead 2026-27 \nNow based in Stanthorpe\, QLD the Ready Communities model is focused on ‘investment’ readiness and building this in its Flagship community\, conference and while on tour through NSW and QLD. \nSpecial announcement \nTo truly embed action\, and a national focus to their readiness work\, Kerry and Chad will launch a set of National Regional Challenges. You won’t want to miss this. \n  \nThis launch is delivered online. Registration essential: here

You can expect: \n\nStructured but relaxed conversations\nA mix of whole-group dialogue and small-group work\nLocal stories\, lived experience and diverse perspectives\nTime to listen as well as contribute\nPractical insights that feed directly into the year-long Ready Communities journey in Stanthorpe\n\nThere will be no panels\, no PowerPoint overload and no expectation that everything is resolved by the end. We supported the Social Impact in the Regions National Pitchfest in 2024 and are excited to build on that foundation.” \nKerry Grace\, Co-Founder of Ready Communities\, added: \n“We saw a lot of activity in social enterprise in Kempsey last year and are excited to partner with Boomerang Labs and StartSomeGood under this FRRR initiative\, to further grow the sector for the betterment of the Kempsey community.” \nSarah Matthee\, Climate Solutions Portfolio Lead at FRRR\, said: \n“We believe that local people are best placed to identify how climate change is impacting their community\, and FRRR is here to actively support them in this process. \n“Thanks to the support of a growing number of like-minded organisations including Elders Insurance backed by the QBE Foundation\, FRRR is able to back projects like Good Hustle. \n“We look forward to learning about the ideas that come out of the Good Hustle program and we hope that the participating changemakers feel empowered to take a seat at the table to lead community responses to our changing climate. \nRead on for further details regarding the Good Hustle Information Session\, as well as the growing partnership between these organisations.
