Unit 4 introduction – Collaboration for purpose

Focus: Collective leadership, creativity and shared action

Complex challenges cannot be solved by individuals or single organisations. This unit focuses on collaboration as a leadership practice, not just a meeting or a partnership agreement.

You will learn how to design and lead collaborative processes that bring together diverse people, perspectives and capabilities. The emphasis is on creating clarity of purpose, enabling creativity and supporting groups to move from conversation to coordinated action.

This unit strengthens your ability to work across boundaries and lead teams that may not report to you but still rely on your facilitation and guidance.

By the end of this unit, you will be better equipped to:

  • design and lead effective collaborative processes
  • facilitate teams with diverse roles, authority and motivations
  • enable creativity in service of shared community outcomes
  • In this unit you will work on:
  • designing and facilitating a multi-stakeholder session
  • a team leadership reflection or case study
  • a collaboration plan with defined roles and next steps
  • These activities form part of your formal assessment and reflect real collaborative leadership.
