Unit 3 Introduction – Capability and capacity

Focus: Personal effectiveness, self-leadership and sustainable work practice

Leading community work requires more than good intentions. It requires self-awareness, clear priorities and sustainable ways of working. This unit focuses on you as the instrument of the work.

You will develop practical strategies to manage competing demands, maintain focus in complex environments and continue growing as a leader over time. You will also build confidence in using digital tools to support collaboration, organisation and delivery.

Rather than pushing harder, this unit helps you work more intentionally, so your energy and skills are directed where they matter most.

By the end of this unit, you will be better equipped to:

  • set and manage personal work priorities in complex roles
  • apply reflective practice to your leadership development
  • use digital tools to support effective and efficient work practices

In this unit you will work on:

  • a personal leadership and workload plan
  • a reflective practice journal
  • demonstrated use of digital tools in your project or community work

These activities form part of your formal assessment and support long-term capability.
